Chiropractic Adjustment & Spinal Manipulation

A chiropractic adjustment is also known as spinal manipulation. This type of therapy is a very common therapeutic treatment to help with spine pain. Chiropractic adjustments manipulate the vertebrae that have abnormal movement or stiffness and bring it back to ideal joint function.

The objective of the chiropractic adjustment is to reduce joint tension, muscle spasm, increase range of motion and improve function. It has also been found that when adjusting a spinal joint there will be a reduction in the excitability of nerves around the spine, which will help reduce pain. Also, the adjustment has been found to reduce local inflammatory markers over the area of injury.

What does a chiropractic adjustment typically involve?

The chiropractic adjustment is a high velocity, short lever arm thrust applied to a joint. It can be accompanied by an audible sound or “crack” that is caused by a release of oxygen, nitrogen and carbon dioxide, which releases joint pressure. However, joint cavitation or “cracking” does not occur every time, but the therapeutic impact is still present.

Chiropractic adjustments are a safe effective way to help alleviate neck, mid back and/or lower back pain. If you or anyone is struggling from pain seek out a chiropractor and get help.. you won’t be disappointed.
